Secure your phone and laptop for crypto
Secure your phone and laptop for crypto
If your device is compromised, your wallet security can collapse fast. You don’t need paranoia — you need a baseline.
Phone checklist
- Strong passcode + Face/Touch ID enabled.
- Keep iOS/Android updated (security patches matter).
- Remove unused apps and avoid random keyboard/VPN apps.
- Turn on SIM PIN to reduce SIM-swap risk.
Laptop checklist
- Full-disk encryption enabled (FileVault/BitLocker).
- Separate browser profile for crypto (clean bookmarks, fewer extensions).
- Disable “remember passwords” in the browser; use a password manager.
- Back up files (encrypted) and keep OS updated.
Simple operational rules
- Don’t install “wallet helpers” or unknown extensions.
- Don’t sign transactions while distracted or rushed.
- For larger moves, use a dedicated device or hardware wallet workflow.
Reality: good security is boring. That’s the point.
